Introduction to Computer

The computer is one of the major components of information technology. Information technology and the computer influence every aspect of human life today, whether in business or in satellite launching. In this unit, we will introduce you to the computer, its parts, and how it works.

Human beings have powerful thinking capacity. The most powerful supercomputers, with advanced software systems, cannot compete against the human brain. Even though a lot of research has been done in the field of artificial intelligence, the computer only does what it has been instructed to do with better speed than humans.

The computer can perform a job that is tedious and mundane without errors, but the brain behind the computer is that of humans. The computer, as the famous saying goes, is a GIGO (Garbage in, Garbage Out) machine. The term GIGO primarily calls attention to the fact that the computer will un-questioningly process the most nonsensical input data (garbage in) and produce nonsensical output (garbage out). You can only get garbage out of a computer if you give it garbage. The accuracy of computer output is defined by the integrity of computer input.

What is the computer?

Computer is a high speed electric device, it is a combination of software and hardware, Computer of performing arithmetic and logical operations

Arithmetical operations: + - / * + ....etc.

Logical operations: < > { } : ; " " ....etc.

Softwares are two types: There are

1. Application softwares: for example WhatsApp, instagram, youtube, Facebook, etc. these all called application softwares

2. System softwaresFor example chrome, flimmora, ms word, pycham, vs code these all called system softwares

Hardware

Hardware may be defined as all the physical or tangible equipment associated with a computer system.

Input Devices

Output Devices

Central Processing Unit

Secondary Storage Devices
